I loved Wintersday. That was an absolute blast getting all the hats for my characters.

I hated that update that nerfed protective bond...

My favorite update is the one that fixes the bug on order of apostasy. You know, the one that makes you automatically win.

Hmm, I think in my 4 months of playing, the update from last thursday is my favorite.

1) Better Faction rewards
2) Harder to sell your items in Weapon slots
3) The green hunt was fun to watch, even if I was at work and only had access to several forums
4) Finally nobody can complain about not being updated (armor, sundering wise)

Even if the update has a downside that you can't get to level 20 in pre anymore (it was one of the things waaaaay down on my to-do list), as noted by wiki's notes: Creatures no longer gain experience for killing you as they used to.

"Game Update Notes Archive: December 2005

Update - Wednesday, December 21

Season's Greetings

(Please sing along to the tune of The Twelve Days of Christmas.)

On the twelfth moon of Wintersday ArenaNet gave to me...
Blessings from Dwayna
Festive decorations
One mighty snowman
Weapons made of candy
Gifts that might kill you
Snow-covered henchmen
New winter monsters
Some really long quests

Lots of drinking Dwarves
Gingerbread shields
Curses from Grenth
And a new way to watch PvP!

That's right, Observer Mode!"

Mother of all updates!!!!

Favorite Update:

Refund points.
The whole refund point system was awful at best. Penalizing a change in character forced people to create the current cookie cutter builds (notice that maaaany of those have never ever changed until the release of factions - thats the aftermath of the Refund points forcing the people into this kind of behavior to simply stick to what works)

Most disliked update:
AOE Nerf. There was no other update that got me closer to quitting the game than this one. It basically was a clear message that continues to exist even more obvious in Factions. "F*ck tactical gameplay, Chaos FTW!". Just my opinion, mind you. No need to throw the typical "olloooll0ooo0oo9ooololollol nooob loololoololo learn to playz0r" statements at me.

Most anticipated update:
Auction house. I fail to understand why A-Net fails to see the importance of this one. This went from being a "soon to be there update" down to a "maybe in a few months" to a "next chapter" and now even a "not sure if it will come". WHY? The current trading system is tedious, annoying, boring, spammy and promoting scams. I don't think there is a single person that wouldn't highly appreciate an auction house in all honestly (minus the typical "I'm against it, noob." Crowd of course).

I was going to say SF but yes, this is one of the best.
Nice that you remembered it.

My favourite was the removal of the attribute refund point system. That one single-handedly gave people much more freedom to experiment, in my opinion.

Wasn't the attribute point update and the permanent faction increase the same as the SF update?

Anyway, I loved that one. My favorite update would have to be the one where rangers got a huge boost on their skills. 3rd favorite was when Lina became availible in the Crystal Desert.
